Almost everything here is taught by somebody who is also a member. These are the people you will meet at the front of a class or on the door.
Alexi is a student of human nature, and most interested in the unspoken rules of how people behave around each other. She designs events that work with the way people actually work, so that talking to a stranger takes less nerve than it usually does.
She founded her first social club in Los Angeles in 2015 and has hosted well over a hundred events since. What she is after in all of it is the same thing: genuine connection, and people leaving in a better mood than they arrived in.
She has been social dancing since she was fourteen and teaching professionally since 2016, studying under Natalia Lind, Michael Kuka, Mireille Gineste and Diane Jarmolow among others. She knows more than twenty social dance styles, performs as well as teaches, and has taught thousands of people. Beginners are her favourite, and the moment somebody works out they can do it after all.
My world has always revolved around one thing: making real connections. Building teamwork at Southwest Airlines, mentoring leaders at Ericsson, and now running DFW Young & Social. What drives me is helping people grow, belong, and find some joy together.
My values come from experience rather than theory. I learned by watching cause and effect: lies break trust, kindness eases pain, selfishness narrows a life, and shared joy makes it richer. The compass is simple. Reduce harm, create joy, look after the people I can reach. That holds whether I am cooking for friends, making films, getting lost in anime, or playing Taylor Swift far too loudly.
If you are here, you are welcome. Come for a meal, a dance, or a conversation that makes the day lighter. We get one life, and I would rather spend it building something with other people than standing still.
Maria is from South America and teaches Spanish and clay sculpting as well as paint nights. She tailors a class to whoever turns up, whether that is one person or twenty, and is happiest when somebody who said they cannot draw goes home with something they like.
Devin works across writing, film, language coaching and creative event design. She is known for making niche things feel inviting, and brings curiosity and a love of shared discovery to every session she runs.
Andrew is a registered Dungeon Master with the Adventurers Guild and has led countless campaigns through a variety of settings. Away from the table he writes, draws and makes music, and spends as much time as he can camping under the stars.
Regan is a teacher, a crafter and the person who notices when somebody is standing on their own. She leads the crochet circle and hosts the romance book club. Outside the club she teaches elementary school, has read something every week for 202 weeks running, and collects bookmarks from every bookshop she visits.
April took her first Zumba class in 2019, fell for it immediately, and was teaching at Crunch Fitness by 2021. Her classes are a full-body dance workout that nobody is expected to get right first time. Outside Zumba she is a counselling student at Tarleton, and she plays board games, social dances, makes things, and tells dad jokes of variable quality.
Brandon has been part of the club for years, first as a member and then as one of the people holding it up. He is a strong dancer and a genuinely good teacher, patient with anybody starting from nothing. Away from the studio he plays volleyball and runs, and he is one of the people you hope is there when you arrive.
Chelsea will try anything once and has eight years of teaching behind her, as a physical therapy technician, a personal trainer, a running coach and a group exercise instructor. She also practises martial arts, social dances, and takes part in yosakoi, a Japanese group dance style.
Lindsey is a friendly instructor who loves crafting, connecting with people, and cafe hopping. She is passionate about libraries and believes all pet owners should have matching pyjamas with their little family members.
In her own words: “Names Uhhhhlia. A goofy, bubbly, energetic, quirky, little friend who loves food, creating, and trying new things! You can find me at YAS, a coffee shop (because I lovvvvee coffee!), or at home rejuvenating the social battery for the next day!”
If you make something, know something or run something and you would like to teach it, tell us. Most of the workshops on the calendar started as somebody mentioning they could do it.
