The DFWYAS Merch Shop Has Re-Opened
Club merch is live at dfwyas.com/store. Free shipping is already in the price, everything is printed when you order it, and your tracking shows up in your account.
The merch shop is back open. We’ve always had one and it’s always run through Printful, so none of that is new. It just sat mostly untouched while I rebuilt everything else this year.
What changed is everything around it. On Squarespace we got whatever their template decided a shop was, and past that I didn’t have much say. Now it’s our code like the rest of the site, which means I can finally make it work the way it should have from the start. Same printer, completely different shop.
So here’s what’s in there, what it costs, and what I’ve tested so far.
1What’s in there
37 designs right now, between $22 and $43. Tees, hoodies, crop tops, hats and a few other bits.
You can filter it down by collection, category, size, colour and price, or just search for what you want. The part I’m genuinely happy about is that a filtered shop is shareable. Narrow it down to exactly the thing you want somebody to see, copy the link, and it opens that same view for them. Squarespace could not do that and it drove me up a wall for years.
2What it costs
Shipping is free. The postage is baked into what each piece costs, because I didn’t want a shop where the number you’ve been looking at for five minutes turns into a bigger number on the last screen.
Tax is 8.25%, the DFW rate, and you see it in the cart before you pay.
We only ship in the US for now.
And since I talk about money on here anyway, this isn’t a fundraiser. After the printer, the shipping and the card fees, what’s left per item is small. The shop is here because people wanted it and because it’s nice seeing club stuff out in the world, not because it pays for anything.
3Ordering
You don’t have to open anything. Every piece has an Add button on its card and it opens the colours and sizes right there. The photo changes as you tap through the colours too, so you can see the one you’re actually picking instead of guessing off a name.
If you want the rest of it, open the piece properly. Every view of that colourway, the full description, and the sizes it comes in.
The cart follows you around the shop in the bottom corner, and if you grab the wrong size you can edit that line instead of deleting it and starting over.
You don’t need an account. Guest checkout works fine. Signing in just means your order lands in your account with everything else, which is the only way to see your tracking later without messaging me about it.
Payment runs through Stripe, same as everything else we charge for. We never see your card.
4Where your order is
If you were signed in when you ordered, go to My Account, then Billing, then Transaction history. Your order is sitting there with what you bought and a line telling you where it actually is.
Three things it can say:
- Waiting for fulfilment. We have it, it hasn’t gone to the printer yet.
- Being made. The printer has it.
- Shipped. With the tracking number, linked straight through to the courier.
It won’t say Being made the second you pay, because that isn’t true yet. Orders go over to Printful in batches, so for a little while it’s just sitting in the queue.
5Returns
Everything is made for you when you order it, so there’s no stock to put anything back into. That means no returns or refunds unless something is actually wrong with it.
If something shows up faulty
Bring it to the club space instead of shipping it back yourself. I have to photograph it here to file the claim with the manufacturer, and that claim is how we get the cost back. A photo over text unfortunately doesn’t do it.
Which is a good reason to check the sizing before you order. Every piece lists what it comes in.
6What I’ve tested so far
I put a real order through myself, paid for it the same way you would, and watched it land at Printful with the right item, the right size and the right address. So that side of it works.
What I can’t confirm yet is whether tracking updates in your account on its own. My order has to get further along before I can watch that happen. I’ll update this post once I’ve seen it work end to end.
