Once a month 50 or more of us head to Arbor Hills for a relaxed walk off the pavement, through a beautiful preserve in the heart of the city.
Arbor Hills Nature Preserve · 6701 W Parker Rd, Plano, TX 75093
My world has always revolved around making real connections: building teamwork at Southwest Airlines, mentoring leaders at Ericsson, and now running DFW Young & Social. My compass is simple, reduce harm, create joy, look after the people I can reach. If you are here, you are welcome. Come for a meal, a dance, or a conversation that makes the day lighter.
We follow the Outer Loop Trail, which runs the perimeter of Arbor Hills Nature Preserve and takes in the open meadows and the juniper bushes that line the path. There is a mix of terrain and surfaces along the way, and little elevation gain.
We meet at the covered awning at the front of the park. There are plenty of places to sit and talk beforehand, and we allow a 10 to 15 minute grace period before starting the 2 to 3 mile walk.
Water, shoes, sunscreen, and bug spray if you are in short sleeves or shorts.
Comfortable shoes, and clothing suited to the temperature.
Arbor Hills allows dogs at the preserve, and we love dogs too. You are responsible for them, but we have no rules against bringing them on the walk.
Everything here is free to attend, and donations are what keep it that way. They cover the space, the supplies and the running costs, and they let us add new free programming rather than charging for it.
DFW Young & Social Club is a not-for-profit organization and not a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization. Donations to the community are not tax deductible.
