One hike a month, at a different trail somewhere in the metroplex. Each event has the details and specifics of the trail for that month.
My world has always revolved around making real connections: building teamwork at Southwest Airlines, mentoring leaders at Ericsson, and now running DFW Young & Social. My compass is simple, reduce harm, create joy, look after the people I can reach. If you are here, you are welcome. Come for a meal, a dance, or a conversation that makes the day lighter.
Every month is a different trail in the metroplex. We go back to favourites like Knob Hill, Cedar Ridge Nature Preserve and Oak Point Nature Preserve, and we are always looking for new ones.
There is no set pace. The larger the group the slower we tend to go, and the smaller the group the quicker. It is about socialising, enjoying being outside and having a good time. Nobody gets left behind, and we take plenty of breaks to make sure everyone still feels good.
Plenty of water, sunscreen, comfortable shoes, bug spray, and clothing suited to the weather.
Most trails and parks we visit allow pets, though we do not pick them for that. We love dogs and they are welcome at all our hiking events.
Everything here is free to attend, and donations are what keep it that way. They cover the space, the supplies and the running costs, and they let us add new free programming rather than charging for it.
DFW Young & Social Club is a not-for-profit organization and not a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization. Donations to the community are not tax deductible.
