About the Style
Waltz is the oldest of the ballroom dances, tracing its origins to the turning folk dances of Germany and Austria in the 18th century. Danced in 3/4 time with a characteristic rise and fall through the body, it became the first truly modern partner dance, and sparked a revolution in how people moved together on the dance floor.
At DFW Young & Social Club, we teach American-style Waltz, flowing, romantic, and grounded in the same natural movements you'd use to walk across a room. The three-beat rhythm creates a beautiful swaying quality that makes Waltz one of the most aesthetically pleasing dances to both do and watch.

Alexi is our lead instructor, trained in more than 25 dance styles, with Master Instructor credentials in many of them and Grand Master status in several. She has been teaching professionally since 2016 and has taught thousands of people. Whatever your level, she teaches to how you learn rather than to a syllabus, and she is at her best with people who have never danced before.
